Food Round Table.

Our Vision
Everyone in Guelph-Wellington has access to nutritious, healthy food that
is produced and distributed in ways that enable local communities, food
producers and natural living systems to flourish.
Our Mission
We believe that through advocacy, action, planning, education,
networking and coordination, our work will lead to a thriving regional food
system that is socially, economically and environmentally sustainable so
that we have nourishment for everyone.
Our Strategic Directions
- Build a network for coordinated action based on the principles of collaboration, open dialogue and transparency.
- Research advice, and advocate for food policies that create an accessible and fair food system in Guelph and Wellington.
- Foster relationships between stakeholders in the local food system to increase viability of local food.
- Promote social learning within the community that will bring about systemic change and movement towards a fair and democratic food system.
- Support infrastructure development that furthers access to healthy food.
- Launch and support programs and services that address local food needs.

Goal
The purpose of the food access working group is to support collaboration
to ensure those experiencing economic hardship in Guelph and
Wellington County have access to culturally acceptable, safe and
nutritious foods to meet their dietary needs; in a manner that maintains
human dignity.
Objectives
1) To decrease the number of barriers in accessing emergency food
services for individuals experiencing economic hardship.
2) To collaborate and strengthen partnerships to increase the capacity
and quality of service of the emergency food system in Guelph and
Wellington County.
3) To partner with the Guelph Wellington Poverty Task Force and the
Guelph Wellington Food Round Table Policy Working Group to influence
policy to increase access to healthy foods and to raise awareness about
food related issues that people living in economic hardship experience.
4) To collaborate and partner to increase the number of opportunities for
nutrition education and food skill development to those experiencing
economic hardship in Guelph and Wellington county.
Membership
The Food Access working group is open to any members of the public.
We also invite members from various social service organizations,
emergency food providers, and the wider community who are interested

The Food Access Working Group generally meets every 3rd Tuesday of
the month. Specific meeting times and locations will be posted on the
events page as scheduled, as well as visible on the side-bar.
